Iran’s Strong Presence at the Afghanistan International Exhibition / Targeting USD 10 Billion in Bilateral Trade
1404/09/02According to the Public Relations Department of the Iran Trade Promotion Organization, Hossein Roustaei, referring to the holding of Afghanistan's largest annual trade and economic event—known as the Imam Abu Hanifa International Exhibition—stated: “Based on the license issued by the Iran Trade Promotion Organization and through the coordination and planning undertaken, more than 40 capable and reputable companies from among the top exporters as well as leading manufacturing and industrial enterprises of the Islamic Republic of Iran, active in the sectors of electricity and energy, construction and engineering, telecommunications and electronics, municipal services, industrial and mining machinery and equipment, trade and investment, logistics and transportation, food products, agriculture, paint and resin, hygiene and cosmetics, and petrochemicals, will participate by establishing dedicated booths to showcase the country's production and export capabilities.”
The Commercial Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan added: “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s exhibition booths, covering an area of 700 square meters, have been set up in the Ariana Hall at the permanent venue of Afghanistan’s International Exhibitions from November 17 to 23.”
Roustaei continued: “Holding official meetings and business sessions with the Ministers of Industry and Trade, Mines, the Presidents of the Chambers of Commerce and Investment, Industry and Mines, and Agriculture and Livestock, organizing a business conference and matchmaking session, meeting with the esteemed chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul, and visiting the exhibition were among the main objectives of the high-level delegation of the Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture during their visit to Kabul.”
According to Roustaei, based on the official statistics of the Customs Administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Afghanistan is currently the fifth-largest export partner of the Islamic Republic of Iran, with last year’s trade volume between the two countries reaching USD 2.5 billion. During the first seven months of the current year, the trade volume reached USD 1.45 billion, indicating a 7% growth in value.
The Commercial Attaché of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan emphasized: “It is anticipated that with the expansion of economic and transit cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan and the planning carried out across various sectors, the target of USD 10 billion in bilateral trade exchanges will be achieved within the next two to three years.”
