2.2-Fold Increase in Exports to Africa in the First Four Months of This Year

Mohammadreza Safari, in an interview with the Iran Trade Promotion Organization’s news outlet, emphasized the decline in imports from Africa and announced that Iran’s exports to the continent grew 2.2 times during the first four months of this year.

According to the official at the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, the number of Iran’s target export destinations in Africa has increased from 29 to 34 countries.

Safari cited the Iran–Africa Economic Cooperation Summit as one of the key drivers of this export growth, adding that with the implementation of the Africa Headquarters’ resolutions, this trend could accelerate even further.

Highlighting the need to shift trade strategies towards higher value-added exports, he noted: “Given recent developments—including rising energy and transport costs, reduced financial support, and the imposition of new U.S. tariffs on these countries’ exports—we must focus on exporting final products with higher added value and plan for joint production in African nations.”

The Acting Director of the Africa Office at the Iran Trade Promotion Organization concluded by pointing to specialized services exports, technical and vocational training, and technology transfer as key opportunities for Iranian businesses compared to their Chinese competitors.
